About the Wicko Readers
Wicko readers are a group of students from Wickersley School and Sports College, who enjoy reading books and discussing their favourite reads with others. This blog has been set up so all members of our group can keep people, who are interested, up to date with what they have been reading. We would like to tell you what’s hot and what’s not. If you don’t like reading, you haven’t found the right book yet, and we know its out there waiting for you!! Have a look at what we’ve been reading and give one a go! You will also find a page devoted to each member of the gang, which tells you a bit of information about them.
We meet once a week in the school library and have read a variety of different books between us. From January 2009 until May 2009 we will be reading the six shortlisted books for the Rotherham Childrens Book Awards. We do a number of activities alongside discussing which we think is the best book. We will be producing a drama, rap and artwork based on our overall favourite book. We will also be designing new book covers for the six books based on our own interpretations of the stories. If you would like to find out more, pop into the school library for details.
