Final word for now…

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Don’t forget Wicko readers, you can add material on your own page. Things that you might like to share with others; perhaps a bit about yourself, your favourite author or genre of books, your hobbies, likes and dislikes. Why not upload a WiiMii of yourself (Available on the WSSC vle in the Library Zone). No photos though guys unless you have asked the Librarian…..

We need lots more reviews on here!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Come on guys, let everyone know about the books you are reading.

I’m currently reading a new book by Michael Grant. He is an American author who has written lots of different types of books (and never using his real name!). I actually met him during the easter holidays and he is a really interesting guy. He has been all over America and had many different jobs – he even had a spell living under a motorway overpass!

This book is awesome and sucks you in from the first page! Imagine you are sitting in your class one day listening to the teacher and they suddenly disappear in the blink of an eye. Not only that, anyone who is over the age of 14 also completely disappears. Children aged 14 and under are left…now imagine how you would feel?  elated? happy?…those left must do all they can to survive. But everyone’s idea of survival is different. Some look after themselves, some look after others, and some will do anything for power…Even kill.

Without giving too much away the book has an XMen  feel about it  and also reminds me of  Lord of the Flies (By William Golding)

Have you decided yet?

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Has anyone decided which is there favourite book? Don’t forget you need to be thinking about presenting your favourite book to the rest of the group on the 7th or 14th May. Mrs Price discussed ideas with you for the type of presentation you could do – think beyond powerpoint! There are lots of ideas on the spider diagram on the display board as you walk in the library.

Hopefully our friends at St Albans will be coming along also and may share their favourite book with you.

Easter Holidays

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Hi everyone.
Hope you are having a good break. It’s fab to see so many comments about the books you have been reading. When we come back to school we will be finishing our book covers and discussing which book we think deserves to win. So carry on reading and have a think how you can persuade everyone to vote for the book you like the best! On Thursday 7th May we will be meeting in the main hall at WSSC to present our favourite book to each other. We decided it didnt have to be a Powerpoint, you might make up a rap or even produce a model/collage. The idea is that you get the main points across about why your book is the best.

this book is very suprising at the end because  micheal dies and its really sad and when I, read it to my mum she cried .  I really think it was a good book , though  it went a bit boring through the middle.

London Eye Mystery By William Ormesher

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I think that the London Eye Mystery was a very exciting book because I love  mystery books and the author Siobhan Dowd put a lot of good vocabulary to make your read on  and there was a good  security company called Frontline Security.Over all I would rate it 10/10.

Rip Runner by OliviaDunn

I thought Rip Runner was really good. But it was building up to a really powerful ending but then it was not that good.It really builded up but then the ending let me down.
